Working a busy nursing shift can make break time seem like a small miracle. To get the most out of it, take time to relax. Pack a healthy snack to enjoy so that you can get in some calories and protein to carry you through the rest of your shift.
Take a seat and put your feet up for a few minutes. Rather than check the news or catch up on email, put your cell phone away and allow your mind to simply relax. Nursing can be stressful, and it can often feel like you don’t have a moment to spare when the floor is filled with patients.
However, you need your break time, and you deserve it to give yourself a chance to unwind. It may be short, but break time can be the calm that you need to get through the rest of the day.
