As a new nurse, you may feel like your lack of experience is a drawback to potential employers. For some positions, this may be true. However, you can overcome a lack of experience by demonstrating both confidence and competence in the workplace. When on the job, take the time to listen and to learn from more experienced nurses. Have confidence in your capabilities, but always accept that you have more to learn. Give yourself room to grow by asking questions and being open to the advice and insight others share with you. Focus on doing your best and building connections with coworkers and other nursing professionals in your area. Doing so will allow you to develop your skills.
