Nurses have such an important and unique role in society. They’re able to give patients, people who are sometimes at their most difficult or vulnerable time, the gift of comfort and compassion. It is comfort and care that goes beyond what’s medically necessary.
Nurses can show their patients that challenging times don’t have to be painful emotionally. Whether they see a patient for hours, days, weeks, or months, nurses can have a meaningful impact.
It is sometimes their kindness that helps to get a patient through a hard time, and that kindness is one of the best gifts that can be given or received.
