Everyone makes mistakes, but in healthcare, there is little room for providers to make errors. After all, the health and safety of patients are in your hands. They are counting on you to do your job and do it well, no matter what. Nurses need to learn quickly from a mistake, use it as a learning opportunity, and move on. If you have made a mistake on the job, even if it’s just a minor one, you can feel a lot of pressure and guilt. It’s important to recognize the mistake that you have made and then make a conscious effort to correct it. No nurse is perfect, but being dedicated to doing your best, you can always find room for improvement.
